Tobacco Control Program

Program Partners

State Level Partners

The Rhode Island Tobacco Control Program TCP funds and collaborates with state programs in an attempt to comprehensively approach the prevention and reduction of tobacco use.  These statewide collaborations help better equip the local programs by providing technical assistance on evaluating programs, promoting media advocacy, implementing smokefree policies, and reducing minors’ access to tobacco.  Additionally, collaborations with statewide agencies who have access to diverse communities help eliminate the disparities in tobacco use among the State’s various population groups.   At the State level, the following four organizations work closely with the Department of Health and have been tireless partners in putting tobacco control on the map:

The following partners provide support in training, technical assistance, information and educational resources required for the successful implementation of the Rhode Island Tobacco Control Program TCP:

  • American Lung Association of Rhode Island: Provides a Resource Center located at 298 West Exchange Street, Providence or phone 401-421-6487
  • University of Rhode Island’s Community Research and Services Team:  Assists the Comprehensive Tobacco Control projects projects
  • Worksite Wellness Council of Rhode Island: Helps worksites restrict smoking
