Should I be screened for TB?

If you fall into one of the following groups, ask your health care provider about getting a TB skin test (also called “PPD”):

  • You live or work closely with someone with TB disease.
  • You were born outside the US (except Canada, Western Europe, and some other areas with low TB numbers).
  • You live or work in a prison, residential institution, or nursing home.
  • You inject recreational drugs.
  • You have HIV or AIDS.
  • You are a child of someone in one of the above groups.
  • You are a health care worker that serves people in any of the above groups.

Where can I get screened for TB?

  • Your health care provider (How to find a doctor)
  • A walk-in clinic
  • If you fall into one of the high-risk categories above, call 222-2577 for information about TB skin testing.
